The town of Helper has been a natural crossroads for immigrants drawn to the mining and railroad jobs here and the small businesses that sprang up in support. 27 different languages were once spoken here, an astounding fact for this town of a mere 5000 residents. Helper is now seemingly at another crossroads; becoming an important gateway to the Fine Arts and the beauty of Utah’s high mountain deserts. My painting “Book Cliffs in Winter” is a simple reflection of my love of this town and the beauty that surrounds it.
